Last month, “Star Trek™ Fleet Command” (STFC) players showed the power, support and love of the game's community by raising funds for the children of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital (Monroe Carell) in Nashville, Tennessee.
Each year, the Talking Trek podcast - a podcast created by the STFC community, for the community - hosts the “Christmas Angel Fund” to support children and families who are in need of a Christmas miracle. This year, the Scopely’s STFC game team and STFC player community partnered with Jingle Toy Drive to sponsor Christmas for the patients at Monroe Carell.
The Jingle Toy Drive gathers donations, gives holiday gifts and provides special programming for the children at Monroe Carell – one of the nation's leading children's hospitals and highest-level NICU in Tennessee, that offers comprehensive Pediatric services for everything from cancer to developmental disorders, general surgery and more.
Together, the STFC community raised SIX TIMES more donations than planned and was able to sponsor nine floors, helping in providing a very merry Christmas to over 1,500 patients and their families.
Not only was the STFC community able to provide healthcare for children in need, but some members were able to visit the hospital on behalf of the global STFC community, including Rebekah (Scopely’s digital content manager, “Star Trek™ Fleet Command”), UltimatDJz (the host of the Talking Trek podcast) and SANTA!
Like the Star Trek series, the STFC community is rooted in loyalty, charity and teamwork. The efforts from the STFC community is just another testament to how our carefully crafted in-game communities impact the lives of our players and touch the hearts of many others beyond our games.
Live long and prosper! 🖖
