Earlier this month in Shanghai during ChinaJoy 2025, one of the world’s largest games expos, Scopely brought together industry leaders, publishers, developers and creators for events focused on deepening connections across the industry and championing inclusive leadership.
We hosted a cocktail reception that welcomed 200+ attendees from across the global and local games ecosystem. The event offered a space for publishers, developers, investors, and creators to connect, share insights, and explore collaboration across markets.
The evening underscored Scopely’s understanding of China’s critical role in the global games landscape and our commitment to fostering meaningful relationships across the broader games community.
We were also proud to partner once again with Women in Games, a global nonprofit dedicated to building a fair, equal, and safe environment for women and girls in games and esports. Scopely has collaborated with Women in Games on several initiatives over the years, including our annual Women in Games brunch at GDC in San Francisco, which brings together women and nonbinary leaders across the industry to connect and share ideas.
In Shanghai, our Women at Scopely Employee Resource Group led a new chapter in that partnership with a gathering themed “Breaking Barriers: Empower, Elevate, and Connect.” The event brought together more than 60 female leaders from the games and esports industries, including founders, studio heads, developers, investors, and creatives.
The centerpiece of this Breaking Barriers event was a fantastic discussion exploring leadership, inclusion, and creative identity in the industry. Speakers included:
- Michelle Zhang, VP and General Manager, Scopely China
- Charity Joy, CEO, Mirai (a Scopely company)
- Danny Tang, CEO and Co-Founder, Hero Esports
- Tülay McNally, Sr. Director, Inclusive Design Strategy, Scopely
The event marked an impactful moment for women in the region’s games industry to connect meaningfully, sharing perspectives on both market trends and personal experiences.
Our presence during ChinaJoy reflects our ongoing ambition to support and invest in creative ecosystems around the world. From industry mixers to gatherings focused on equity and inclusion, we love creating opportunities for connection, collaboration, and community around the world.
We’re energized by what we’ve started and excited for what’s ahead. See you at ChinaJoy 2026!
