Scopely Celebrates Black Futures Month

As Black History Month comes to a close, we came together as One Scopely to celebrate the achievements, resilience and cultural impact of Black leaders of the past, present and future. At Scopely, we not only honor history, but also champion what’s ahead and, this year, we evolved our celebration to “Black Futures Month,” highlighting the innovators shaping tomorrow.

Our Black @ Scopely Employee Resource Group (ERG) championed a month filled with learning, connection and celebration, including:

Spotlighting Black game creators and significant Black characters like “Tales of Kenzera™: ZAU” by Surgent Studios, “Spiritfarer” by Thunder Lotus Games, and Marvel's “Spider-Man: Miles Morales.”

Supporting Black-owned businesses and restaurants for our in-office lunches and with community discounts outside of the office.

Focusing our monthly Virtual Wellness Series on identifying unconscious bias, diving into how we can foster fairness and inclusion.

Attending University of Southern California’s Black Futures event, where ERG members heard from games pioneer Muriel Tramis, whose groundbreaking work explored the Afro-Caribbean experience in games

Attending an event at Electronic Arts (EA) hosted by Beat LA, EA’s initiative aimed to create a supportive community that champions inclusion, professional growth, and cultural enrichment by connecting with local Black employees and businesses, where our Scopeleans networked with local Los Angeles members of the games community.

Hosting a mixer at a local Black-owned business in Los Angeles, where Scopeleans and our co-CEO, Javier Ferreira, came to reflect, connect and look ahead to a future full of possibility.

The journey doesn’t end here; we remain committed to making Scopely as diverse, equitable and inclusive as possible. Let’s continue to celebrate, learn and uplift each other every day!
