Say “hello” to Paul.
Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at Scopely.
I work in the Culver City Hub when I go to the office, but I mostly work remotely. I am a producer for the “MARVEL Strike Force” characters and combat pod. I have been with Scopely and Boundless, a Scopely Studio, since 2018.
What are you currently working on and how does your work impact the company?
Since becoming a producer on “MARVEL Strike Force,” my main job has been ensuring our game gets the best quality characters possible and that they adhere to the MARVEL standard. As an avid MARVEL fan for most of my life, words cannot describe how important this job is to me and my passions. Every day I wake up grateful to be a part of this business, fulfilling my dreams of making video games.
What does diversity in gaming mean to you?
The importance of diversity in gaming culture is to create a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy and feel represented. This cannot be of higher importance in the gaming workplace, where you will likely find yourself surrounded by people from all over the world following their dreams to make video games.
Which Scopely culture tenet resonates most with you?
EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE. This tenet perfectly encapsulates my journey in the gaming industry. Starting in QA, working on some of the biggest games in the industry, becoming a leader and driving completion of some amazing milestones, and finally joining Scopely to have the best time in my career.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
Best advice I got was from my first QA instructor - "QA and working in gaming is all about seizing the opportunity. You never know what kind of tasks you will get, but you should always be open to shine whenever you can."
What's the last good movie/show you watched?
The last good movie/show I watched was the anime Demon Slayer - I just finished the Swordsmith Arc, and it was amazing. I may be 40+ but I can't stop watching anime with my kids.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I am living proof that anyone can follow their dreams!
