Scopelean Spotlight: Jordan Wilson

In our Scopelean Spotlight series, we're showcasing some of the exceptional talents at Scopely. Today, we turn our focus to Jordan Wilson, the executive IT support specialist working tirelessly behind the scenes at our Culver City Hub.

Say "hello" to Jordan.

Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at Scopely.
Hi there! My name is Jordan Wilson. I am the executive IT support specialist here at the Culver City Hub. I've been working for Scopely for about nine months now.

How would you describe Scopely's culture?
Scopely's culture is inspiring to me. Throughout the entire company, no matter what department, you hear a real focus and passion for driving player experience in creative ways. It is clear that focus is what makes Scopely what it is today. The level and care that goes into our players and even more into our people makes Scopely such a special place.

Which Scopely culture tenet resonates most with you?
EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE. Without that mentality, I would not be here at Scopely now. Almost three years ago, I made a huge decision to pick up everything and move to LA for a job. This turned out to be the best decision of my life. I found myself in a way I couldn't back home (NJ). Being here has given me the opportunity to grow myself and has led me to meet my soon-to-be wife, expand my acting/creative career, and join Scopely!

What does diversity in gaming mean to you?
Diversity in gaming is widely important to me just as it is in every aspect of life. The importance of being able to see someone that looks like me is something really close to my heart. Games like Deathloop, Spiderman: Miles Morales, The Gunk, etc... Let me know people who look like me can be seen in a fantasy sort of light and it can make for extremely compelling storytelling.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?
This comes from the acting side of my life, but I was once told, people don't know what they want until you show it to them. That thought revolved around throwing caution to the wind when overthinking an idea you may have and just trusting your creativity. Sometimes, people may know what they like but can't imagine it, but if you show them something creative without the full worry of what they "want," you will end up landing on exactly what they were looking for.

What is your favorite initiative, experience or program at Scopely?
I absolutely love the LinkedIn Learning that we brought into Scopely at the end of last year. I am a constant seeker of knowledge, so being able to have a platform that allows me to further myself in an area I'm interested in is really important to me. It's helped me map out where I want to take my career and is giving me the tools I need to take that next step.
