Scopelean Spotlight: Eve Espindola

As we embark on the journey of 2024, we’ve refreshed our Scopelean Spotlight to embody the spirit of new beginnings. In the spirit of new beginnings, we're excited to feature Eve Espindola, our go-to senior global mobility partner at Scopely.

Say "hello" to Eve.

Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at Scopely.
Hi. My name is Eve Espindola. I'm originally from Brazil (Santa Catarina, located in the south of the country) but have been in the US for almost 20 years. I work at the Culver City hub and have been with Scopely for 2.5 years. Fun fact: The day I accepted Scopely's offer to join the company was the same day my husband proposed to me! It's a funny story, actually 😉

I am Scopely's global mobility partner and manage everything related to relocation of new hires and internal transfers to all our hubs, entity registration and renewals with immigration government bodies, visitor visas, international short-term PEO contracts, work and residence permits for all countries where we have an entity.

How would you describe Scopely’s culture?
Scopely is a fun place to work, with a fast-paced environment, exciting challenges to conquer, passionate people working side by side, and inspiring leaders supporting us. It has been the best professional experience of my career.

Which Scopely culture tenet resonates most with you?
CARE DEEPLY. I feel this daily in all Scopely interactions: from peers, colleagues, managers, and leadership. It's why I am so excited to be part of this journey that is Scopely!

What does diversity in gaming mean to you?
It means playing an active role in the ongoing task of building an inclusive and welcoming community for players and employees in the industry, truly respecting what makes each individual unique (no matter their age, gender, race, sexuality, religion, or cultural background). Scopely is a very international company, so we get to experience this beautiful diversity of thoughts daily.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?
The advice comes in the form of a question: "When was the last time you did something for the first time?"

Now, if you have to think for too long to answer this question, then it clearly has been too long and it is time for a new adventure! 😉 By following this thought process, I am frequently pushing myself out of my comfort zone and experiencing new things.

For example, I had never been to Barcelona before, and here I am, answering this question from our Passatge hub!

What is your favorite initiative, experience or program at Scopely?
GLOBAL MOBILITY! This is a complex function of human resources that enables a company to move employees from one location to another (think of it as the tactical and logistical support for immigration, relocation, tax compliance, etc.). With the constant evolution of employment laws, immigration regulations, and a talent pool that remains curious about cross-border opportunities, global mobility has an active part in the success of a company's talent acquisition, retention, and development strategy.

Since I joined Scopely, we have moved hundreds of employees to join the teams at our several hubs. It is super exciting to be part of their journey as they embark on this new adventure: most of the employees are moving for the first time or moving by themselves (leaving behind loved ones to pursue a new dream). Being an expat myself, I appreciate that decision.
