Scopelean Spotlight: Brandi Smith

This December, we're turning the spotlight on our Facilities Team for their incredible work in creating amazing experiences. Meet Brandi Smith, our great regional workplace manager for our Scopely hubs in the US and Mexico.

Say "hello" to Brandi.

Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at Scopely.
I am Brandi Smith, US and Mexico's regional workplace & facilities manager. I oversee workplace and facilities operations for the Culver and Mexico hubs. I have been with Scopely for 2.4 years.

What are you currently working on and how does your work impact the company?
Our days and projects vary often, so our main focus is maintaining hubs to support daily collaboration and in-person connections effectively.
Our actions focus on ensuring that our hubs are safe, offer versatile functions, provide unique onsite experiences, and can maintain flexibility in the many ways Scopeleans works.

What does diversity in gaming mean to you?
I think diversity for any company is a visible representation of a company’s emphasis on ensuring their people are of diverse backgrounds, cultures and genders. Someone should be able to take a walk around an office, sit in on a meeting or All-hands and actually see that a company values the input, knowledge, skills and experiences of the vast cultures/ethnicities based on who is sitting in these rooms. And based on the people behind the scenes diversity in gaming will implicitly seep into the characters and worlds we see in games.

Which Scopely culture tenet resonates most with you?
EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE. In Facilities, we embrace the adventure every day. No day is the same, and we don't always know what ask or support request will come up, so we quickly learn to adapt, stay flexible, and do our best to keep in a "we've got this" mindset to be able to support individuals and teams as they work in (and sometimes out) of the hub.

What one piece of advice do you wish you knew early on in your career?
It's okay not to know what you want to do after high school. It's okay to travel and gain life experiences and to actually enjoy learning. There will be plenty of time (God willing) to be a responsible adult who pays bills. Also, I wish I would've started taking my birthday off from work a lot sooner.

What's the last good movie/show you watched?
I'm hesitant to admit this, but I just watched the Squid Games reality show on Netflix and couldn't stop watching! It was the best mix of ridiculousness, extra-nessy, and sheer reckless emotional chaos, which was so hard to look away from.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I would like to remind those Scopeleans who haven't yet had a chance to visit one of the exquisite Scopely hubs around the globe that next time you are in a location near a hub, stop by and grab a place to set up and do a bit of work. You may find yourself more engaged in in-person connection and positive vibes than expected.
