Scopelean Spotlight: Anindita Chakraborty

For this Scopelean Spotlight, we continue celebrating Women’s History Month by recognizing the awesome women who make Scopely the exceptional company that it is.

Say “hi” to Anindita.

What does it take to ensure that the games consumers play work seamlessly and that the infrastructure is at its utmost best? The best person to ask would be Anindita Chakraborty, Senior Data Engineer. Based in India and as part of the Playgami™ and GSN Games teams, Anindita took a few minutes to tell us about what she does at Scopely, what she is working on and what some of her favorite podcasts are. Read on to learn more!

Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at Scopely.

I have been part of the Scopely team as a Senior Data Engineer since the acquisition of GSN Games in October 2021, but a member of the central data team at GSN Games since September 2020. I am currently based out of Mumbai, India.

What are you currently working on and how does your work impact the company?

I support the Max game division and also work on onboarding for Playgami™. As a central team, our focus is always prioritising customer requirements while also optimising our current infrastructure. As part of Playgami™ onboarding, we are doing a series of assignments which aims to familiarise the analytics engineer with the entire architecture.

What does diversity in gaming mean to you?

I would start with the characters in the game, different themes and genres for all the players out there, but also, most importantly, having that diversity behind the scenes which would be following, living and breathing those same values at each step of the process. That starts with the people who work in the industry.

Which Scopely culture tenet are you the most passionate about?

I would go with “EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE.” I'm in a phase of major life changes and not all change is comfortable. I have been trying to be a lot more flexible and open-minded and one way to have a positive outlook is to see it as an adventure.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

The best piece of advice I have ever received, hands down, has to be, “If you are stuck, it's okay to ask for help.” You do not necessarily need to figure out and solve everything by yourself.

What is your current favorite podcast?

I love podcasts and there are so many that I would like to mention, but to pick one, I would choose "I Will Teach You To Be Rich” by Ramit Sethi as my current favourite. It revolves around money psychology and delves into different ideologies and mindsets of the couples he interviews on the show.
